• Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) launches an initiative to promote trade and economic relations in Asharqia Chamber of Commerce

    On Thursday February 28, 2019, Asharqia Chamber organized a meeting with the Hong Kong Trade Development Board, headed by the Deputy Director of the Council Abdul Aziz Nasser, in the presence of board member Bandar bin Rafi al-Jabri and the Secretary General of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Wabil.

     

     

    During the meeting, Najib bin Abdullah Al-Sihati, a member of the Board of Directors of Asharqia Chamber, stressed that the Kingdom is one of the fastest growing countries in the world.

    He pointed out that the development in the Kingdom is proceeding at a rapid pace in light of the attention and support of the wise leadership through the Vision of the Kingdom 2030.

    Al-Sehati said that the number of cities in the Kingdom rose from 58 cities in 1970 to nearly 300 cities.

    He pointed out that the Saudi government is spending heavily on the development of its cities.

    In its budget for 2019, the Kingdom allocated SR 304 billion to develop health, transport, infrastructure and municipal services.

    He pointed out that the business sector in the region is keen to establish partnerships and promote trade and economic cooperation with Hong Kong, especially as the Eastern Region is experiencing urban development and expansion.

    He added that it is possible to cooperate to implement development projects in this field, especially as it is internationally recognized as the world-class petrochemical center and oil-related industries in the cities of Jubail 1 and 2, Ras Al-Khair.

     

    For his part, Nasser said that China is investing in development through huge trade and investment opportunities covering more than 60 countries.

    Therefore, Saudi Arabia presented an initiative entitled "The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)", which is one of the largest infrastructures and investment projects in the world.

    Nasser said China has more than 60 percent of the world's population and about 30% of world GDP.

    The Belt and Road Initiative is based on the construction of port infrastructure facilities.

    It includes infrastructure links that include railways, highways, airways, telecommunications, oil and natural gas pipelines and ports.

     

    In conclusion, al-Sehati honored the head of delegation, Nasser, with memorial plaque. ​
